Hi, my name is Brett Shuttleworth.
And just like you, I once yearned for something greater, something more. I know the feelings of emptiness and depression all too well.
Let me rewind a little, and you’ll get to understand why I am having this conversation with you here, today.
My journey appeared promising at its outset - scouted to play professional rugby in the United States, I was set to become one of the greats in the rugby hall of fame.
Everything was going according to plan – my dream was unfolding and life was practically perfect… until in the qualifying game for the rugby world cup I shattered my arm into pieces.
In a matter of moments, I became stranded – both physically and emotionally – at the young age of 27.
And so I ended up homeless on the streets of Manhattan for over a year – searching for answers, and asking the inevitable question:
"Why me?"
Life has a way of taking us through “seasons” – and after a long and desperate winter, my summer arrived in the shape of a Calvin Klein modelling contract. This sparked a whirlwind of front page features, billboards, global marketing campaigns and runway shows in over 26 countries.
But let me tell you, something just didn’t feel right. Despite my fame and wealth, I was still unhappy and empty!
Then I remembered something.
While homeless in New York, I would often pull out a piece of chalk and write inspirational quotes on the sidewalk in the morning.
I would watch as the grumpy New Yorkers would pass by, see the quote on the ground, stop, smile, and continue walking with a bounce in their step!
It was these moments that ignited true joy within me.
This was the turning point, and so I left “the dream” behind to travel the world in search of purpose and the true meaning of life.
I was hungry to the core. I wouldn’t and didn’t stop until I had answers!
What I discovered has since led me on the most fulfilling and rewarding journey of my life. I studied consciousness, coaching, speaking and spirituality – and inevitably, this led me to a deep desire to pass on the torch.
During that time, I studied alongside my good and brilliant friend Mark Fraser-Grant who forged a similar journey of overcoming challenges, self-mastery, and developing methodologies and processes for others to follow to achieve the same result.
What became quite apparent, was that many of our coaching clients and Retreat participants adored our work so much that they yearned to study and apply it for themselves in their own coaching context.
They were resistant to go the tradition ‘coach accreditation’ route that involved years of laborious academia requiring huge investment of money, time and practice hours.
